Afghan Embassy urges swift release of 450 containers held in Karachi

ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of Afghanistan in Islamabad has formally requested the immediate release of 450 containers currently held in Karachi. Following a meeting with officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce, the embassy conveyed its concerns about the prolonged detention of these containers, emphasizing the urgency of their release.

In an official statement posted on social media, the embassy announced the successful discussion held between the Trade Representative of the UAE Embassy in Islamabad, the Consulate in Karachi, and key officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce.
The post read, “Today, the Trade Representative of the UAE Embassy in Islamabad and the Consulate in Karachi met with the Director of Foreign Trade, Mrs. Maria Kaze and Secretary Zubair Khan of the Ministry of Commerce of Pakistan. The Afghan side expressed its gratitude for the release of around 3,000 containers and demanded the release of the remaining 450 containers as soon as possible.
The embassy also said that officials of Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce have assured the Afghan delegation that necessary measures would be taken to facilitate the prompt release of the held containers. The embassy remains optimistic about the resolution of the matter, anticipating a favorable outcome from the assurances given by the Pakistani authorities.
