LAHORE: The sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Aleema Khan, claimed that the government has indicated her brother, Imran Khan, will be released from custody within 20 days.
Speaking to media in Lahore, Imran Khan’s sister described a scenario the government felt ‘compelled’ to respond to public protests and unrest.

According to Aleema Khan, the arrival of protest convoys forced the government to act. This led to the dispatch of Barrister Gohar to meet with Imran Khan in the notorious Adiala Jail.
She claimed that during the meeting, the PML-N led government expressed its intention to facilitate the former prime minister’s release, citing the need to alleviate the growing public discontent.

Aleema talked about expediting the legal proceedings against her famous brother. She argued that a swift trial would prevent unnecessary delays and save time for all parties involved.
She criticised the current state of the legal process, particularly regarding the Jinnah House case, which has yet to see any significant progress.
She stated that the PTI leadership was not seeking bail but rather demanded that the trails commence without further delay.
Aleema also expressed concern over the prosecution’s lack of evidence, suggesting that the prolonged legal battles have lef to a waste of time and resources for everyone involved.
Imran Khan was ousted from office in April 2022 in a move he alleged international conspiracy against him. Since his ouster, the PTI founder has faced several lawsuits, that forced his departure from the party’s premiership.
