mumtaz zehra baloch

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office (FO) has confirmed that all Pakistani students in Bangladesh are safe following recent unrest in the country. FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch assured that students have been relocated to secure locations, including the High Commission, the ambassador’s residence, and other safe zones.

Bangladesh sees toughest civil unrest in decades

The High Commission has taken prompt action to ensure the safety of our students, Baloch said, adding that Pakistan’s mission in Dhaka is in continuous contact with all the students, and the deputy head of mission has personally visited Chittagong to meet with the students there. She said that the FO can confirm that everyone is safe.

The assurance comes in the wake of escalating protests and violent demonstrations against the government job quota system in Bangladesh. The situation has intensified to the point where authorities have issued shoot-on-sight orders for those breaching law and order.
