ISLAMABAD: The Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, delivered a strong-worded speech at the National Farmers’ Convention on Friday, where he announced the launch of the Green Pakistan Initiative, a comprehensive plan to boost the agricultural sector and support the farmers of the country.

The army chief said that agriculture and cattle rearing were the vocations of almost every prophet, as they involved discipline, suffering, growth, and patience, resulting in immense rewards.

He said that Pakistan was blessed with abundant natural resources, such as glaciers, rivers, mountains, fertile land, and mineral wealth, and that it produced some of the best rice, fruits, and other crops in the world.

He said that Pakistan was once the fastest growing country in Asia in the 1960s, but it lost its momentum due to forgetting the three principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah: faith, unity, and discipline.

He said that the Green Pakistan Initiative aimed to revive the agricultural sector by providing easy credit, cold storage, climate-resistant seeds, genetically engineered livestock, and agricultural malls to the farmers. He said that a large part of the income from the initiative would go to the provinces, while the rest would be used for farmers and agricultural research.

He said that the role of the army in this initiative was only to serve the people and the farmers.

The army chief also warned against the propaganda and fake news spread by the enemies of Pakistan on social media, which created an atmosphere of despair and chaos. He said that the state was not losing its existence, but rather strengthening its foundations. He said that all types of mafia would be suppressed with the help of the nation.

The farmers welcomed the army chief’s speech with loud cheers and slogans of Pakistan Zindabad, Pakistan Army Zindabad, and Nara-e-Takbeer. They expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the army’s efforts to uplift the agricultural sector and the rural economy. They also pledged their loyalty and support to the state and the army.
