Another minor worker subjected to domestic violence in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Following the harrowing domestic violence involving 14-year-old Rizwana at the hands of the wife a judge in Islamabad, another case of violence against a minor female worker has surfaced in the capital city.

This time, a young girl named Andaleeb Fatima, has reportedly suffered abuse and mistreatment at the hands of her employer, named Zaitoon Bibi, a resident of Sector G-15, Islamabad.

The accused was arrested and presented in a local court, which sent her on a judicial remand.

The victim, a 13-year-old girl, bore visible scars and marks of wounds across her body, highlighting a harrowing tale of daily torment.

According to her father, Mohammad Yousuf, his daughter endured brutal violence regularly. He said that when his wife attempted to retrieve her (Andaleep) from the house owner, identified as Zaitoon Bibi, she allegedly confined them both in a room and tortured them.

Yousuf, speaking to Urdu News, expressed the family’s plight, saying: “We are impoverished people; struggling to make ends meet. I sent my daughter to work in Islamabad out of necessity, but her employer not only subjected her to abuse but also withheld her first month’s wages.”

He continued, “My wife went to Islamabad to see Andaleeb when she was stopped by her employer from meeting her.

Tears came down cheeks of Yousuf as he recounted the story of the violence inflicted upon his daughter.

“Andaleeb is the lone sister among four brothers. Financial difficulties compelled us to send her to work, but before she could even receive her first salary, she was scarred by wounds that she will never forget.”

Sources said that a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the Tarnol police station on a complaint of Andaleeb Fatima’s mother, Khalida Bibi.

In the FIR, the accused Zaitoon Bibi, had been nominated for torturing Andaleeb.

It was said in the FIR that when Khalida Bibi went to see her daughter, she found wounds on her face and head.

The FIR further stated that “Zaitoon Bibi used to beat her daily and even denied her any contact with her family members.

According to the FIR, when Khalida Bibi inquired from Andaleeb about her injuries, she told her that she was scalded with a hot spoon.

Investigation Officer Inspector Irfan Abbas stated that the accused has been arrested and sent to Adiala Jail on judicial remand.

A few weeks ago, news of severe abuse against another domestic worker, Rizwana, made headlines. Rizwana’s previous employer, who was reportedly responsible for the mistreatment, is currently in jail.
