ISLAMABAD: A ‘missing person’ Muddasir Hussain Khan has been identified in another case pending in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) under Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani.
Khan, who went missing from Muzaffarabad in March 2024, has been identified, according to the report submitted by the Ministry of Defense. The report shows that Khan is an under-trial accused, and a case is being filed against him in a military court.
The petitioner’s lawyer requested a meeting with the inmate’s family. In response, the IHC directed the representative of the Ministry of Defense to allow Khan to meet with his family, as per the law.
The petitioner’s counsel Imaan Mazari and others appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner Nazima Fatehyab. Assistant Attorney General and Ministry of Defense’s counsel Brigadier Falak Naz appeared in the court on the government’s behalf.
The court directed for a meeting of the accused with the family and adjourned the hearing.
No details have been shared so far on the details of the charges against Khan.
Missing poet from Muzaffarabad
Earlier this year in May, another ‘missing person’ poet Ahmad Farhad was also discovered in police custody after going missing from Muzaffarabad. Farhad was also represented by the Khan’s counsel, Mazari. She had raised the issue of another person going missing around the same time from Muzaffarabad and had registered a case on his behalf as well.
As of now it is unclear whether Muddasir Khan is the same person that had disappeared around the same time as the poet Farhad. However, Justice Kayani back in May had directed the Islamabad authorities to look into both disappearances.
