Karachi gets ‘Anti Rape Crisis Cell’

KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Friday inaugurated an Anti-Rape Crisis Cell at the Police Surgeon Office, Civil Hospital Karachi.

“The [first] Anti-Rape Crisis Cell was inaugurated at MA Jinnah Road near Civil Hospital in Karachi,” Murtaza Wahab announced on the messaging platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

“This is an important development to curb GBV (gender-based violence) crimes,” he added.

The facility will function as an essential resource centre, providing various services to rape survivors, such as medical and psychological assistance, legal aid, and counselling.

Furthermore, the facility will extend its support to males, females, and transgender individuals by offering medico-legal assistance.
