GHOTKI: In a recent address, former President Asif Zardari said he wants to convey a message to both friends and foes. He said he would prefer to speak to people in their native Sindhi language, but he decided to speak in Urdu so his “friends and foes” may also be able to understand him.
During his speech, he reaffirmed his party’s commitment to the welfare of the nation and dispelled any notions of pursuing power for its own sake. Zardari explained that their actions were prompted by the observation that certain leaders were not fulfilling their responsibilities to the people.

Highlighting the need for national service and developmental efforts in the province of Sindh, Asif Zardari underscored the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) commitment to addressing the concerns of the underprivileged, positioning it as the party of the poor.
He reflected on his tenure as President, where he delegated significant powers to the Parliament, emphasizing that decisions, including curbing the President’s powers, were made with careful consideration.
Zardari also mentioned that those who oppose the PPP will face stiff competition, adhering to the legacy of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
He also discussed plans for resolving water-related challenges by initiating canal lining from Rohri Canal, offering hope for a solution to water problems.
“Imposing martial law is no longer a feasible option,” he said while advocating for democracy and encouraging opponents to engage in electoral competition. He stressed the critical need to avoid further economic crises in Pakistan, as the nation cannot afford them.
