atta prices increase in Punjab

LAHORE: The prices of atta in Punjab have increased by Rs 130 per kg in two weeks, sending a wave of concern amongst the citizens who are already battling rising inflation.

The price of a 20kg bag of flour (atta) in the open market has increased by Rs 130 over the past two weeks, reaching Rs 1230 in Punjab.

According to flour mill owners, the price of wheat per 40kg has crossed Rs 2300, which is the main reason behind the hike in flour prices.

Pakistan’s core inflation falls to 0.3pc in April

They added that two weeks ago, the same atta bag was available for Rs 1100 when wheat prices were cheaper in the market in Punjab.

The mill owners believe that if wheat prices stabilise, flour rates may come down as well.
