ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani High Commission in London is reportedly awaiting instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following an alleged attack on the vehicle of former chief justice Qazi Faez Isa in London.
The incident, involving workers of a political party attempting to forcibly stop his car, banging on windows, and reportedly using offensive language, was promptly reported by the High Commission to both British and Pakistani foreign ministries.
In its initial report, the Pakistani High Commission sought guidance from the Foreign Ministry on the appropriate response but has yet to receive further directives.
According to official protocol, in such incidents, the Foreign Ministry consults with Pakistan’s Minister of Law and the Attorney General for legal recommendations.
Sources said that the incident took place in a restricted traffic zone in London, where attackers allegedly targeted the vehicle intentionally.
British law allows legal action in cases involving attempts to forcibly stop a vehicle, and local police have already inspected Isa’s car.
The High Commission has said it was prepared to formally register a report with London police once authorised by the Foreign Ministry.
Although Pakistani High Commissioner Dr Faisal in London has not yet been formally notified, officials said that the High Commission was prepared to submit a report and request legal action against those involved in the attack.
The Pakistani High Commission has also raised the issue with the British Foreign Office, emphasizing that despite prior warnings of potential risks during Justice Isa’s visit, security measures were not put in place.
They have requested that the British authorities take action against the attackers under local laws.
