KP mulls historic move; female candidate for deputy speaker post
Facing stiff competition, Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) candidate Sophia Shah put up a commendable fight, amassing 36 votes in her bid for the speakership. However, it was Shah’s widespread support that ultimately propelled him to victory, cementing his position as a key figure in Sindh’s legislative body.
The swearing-in ceremony held profound symbolism as Shah took his oath of office in Sindhi, reaffirming his commitment to the cultural heritage of the region. Administering the oath was none other than Agha Siraj Durrani, the former speaker, who passed the torch of leadership to Shah in a momentous transition.
