Babusar Top reopens: traffic advisory released

ISLAMABAD: Tourists planning excursions in the snowy Babusar Top should now get ready to head their as the popular tourist destination Babusar Top has now been reopened to traffic after a closure of six-months. National Highway Authority (NHA) has issued an advisory for the travellers so they can visit the areas freely by following the rules stated.
These are the rules stated in the advisory:
- No travel allowed after dark
- Road will open for traffic at 6:00 AM
- No vehicles permitted on the road after 6:00 PM
- Vehicle access restricted by category: only F-1, F-2, and F-3 category vehicles are allowed
- Vehicles under F-4, F-5, and F-6 category vehicles are prohibited
The Babusar Top was closed to all vehicular traffic on October 29, 2024, after snowfall across Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Babusar Top is typically closed from November to June due to extreme temperatures, and traffic is regularly diverted to KKH during these months.
Located at an altitude of nearly 13,700 feet above sea level, the road leading to the popular tourist destination is once again accessible.
Babusar Top reopens after six-month closure
The National Highway Authority has successfully reopened the road, providing a much-needed shortcut for travelers heading to Gilgit-Baltistan.
With the reopening, tourists can now save up to five hours of travel time compared to the traditional route via the Karakoram Highway.
This reopening is expected to spark a significant influx of tourists into the Kaghan Valley and other northern regions, offering visitors the chance to experience the breathtaking scenery, snow-covered mountains, and cool weather that this route has to offer.
