RAWALPINDI: The Bahria Town Head Office in Phase 8, Rawalpindi and Islamabad reopened after being closed by the Punjab Health Department over breaches of dengue prevention rules.
The sealing reportedly followed inspections that found fountains on the premises that did not comply with health protocols designed to stop the spread of dengue.
Operations have resumed, providing relief to residents, investors and employees.

Legal and Financial Challenges
The reopening takes place amid a wave of legal and financial issues engulfing Bahria Town, the country’s largest private housing society.
The company’s chairman Malik Riaz is facing investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the high-profile £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case.
The NAB is conducting auctions of properties linked to Malik Riaz as part of efforts to recover allegedly embezzled funds. The bureau insists these actions target the owners, not the residents; assuring the residents’ assets are ‘safe’ and ‘protected’.
Courts have so far allowed the auction process to proceed. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed petitions to stop the auction, and the Supreme Court recently rejected a plea seeking a stay order on the property sales. The hearing on this matter is ongoing.
Impact on Property Market and Residents
Since the legal proceedings began, Bahria Town’s property market experienced a significant decline. Prices for plots and investments files dropped sharply.

The decline is largely driven by rumours and fears related to the ongoing investigation and property auctions. NAB urged the public to ignore misinformation.
