bail plea of Ducky bhai rejected

LAHORE: A local court has dismissed the post-arrest bail plea of popular YouTuber Saad ur Rehman, widely known as Ducky Bhai, in the case pertaining to the promotion of illegal gambling and betting applications.

Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo announced the decision after hearing arguments from both sides.

The defense lawyer pleaded that the case against his client was based on false allegations and politically motivated.

However, the prosecution maintained that the YouTuber had profited from the illegal gambling apps and had made millions.

Ducky Bhai was arrested by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on August 17 from Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore.

Since then, he has remained in judicial custody. His lawyer, Advocate Chaudhry Usman Ali, moved the application under Section 497 of the Criminal Procedure Code, pleading that the charges were weak and unsubstantiated.

The petition claimed that the gambling apps promoted in Ducky Bhai’s videos had not been declared illegal at the time of his alleged involvement.

It further highlighted that the investigating officers failed to produce evidence of fraud, scamming, or financial losses directly connected to him.

The defence also recalled that Sections 294-B and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code, mentioned in the case, are bailable.

Moreover, no complainant or victim of financial loss appeared before the court to substantiate the prosecution’s accusations.

Counsel argued that Ducky Bhai had no prior criminal record, had no intention of leaving the country, and was willing to furnish surety bonds if granted bail.

After hearing the arguments, the court rejected the bail request, and ordered that the accused remain in jail until the investigation is completed.
