Bajaur blast: CPEC’s 10th anniversary to be marked in simple manner

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued directives to mark the 10 anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project in a simple manner due to the loss of lives in the Bajaur blast.

Following the prime minister’s directive, a cultural show that was initially planned on the CPEC’s 10th-anniversary has been canceled.

Sources said that the CPEC’s 10-year anniversary celebrations will now be marked without the cultural show.

The Blast

At least 44 people were martyred and more than 200 others injured in a suicide blast in Bajaur during the workers’ convention of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) on Sunday.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police said Monday an initial probe suggested that the terrorist organisation Daesh was behind the suicide attack in Bajaur.

Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng visits Pakistan

Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng has arrived in Pakistan on a three-day visit.

Earlier, Pakistan and China signed six agreements and MOUs for the promotion of bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the documents signed were aimed at further enhancing economic relations between the two countries.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Sharif and the visiting Chinese vice premier.
