Bajaur under curfew as security forces launch anti-militant operation

PESHAWAR: The Deputy Commissioner Bajaur has imposed a curfew for three days in 16 villages of Tehsil Loi Mamond Bajaur in view of launching a targeted operation against militants.

According to a statement issued by the Deputy Commissioner Bajaur, the district administration has imposed a curfew in 16 villages of Tehsil Loe Mamund, District Bajaur in view of targeted operations against militants.

The district administration has directed the people not to leave their homes during the curfew so that any untoward incident can be avoided, otherwise they will be responsible for all kinds of financial and personal losses.

According to a notification issued by DC Bajaur, curfew will be imposed from July 29 to July 31 during targeted operations against militants.

The villages in which the district administration has imposed curfew include Bad-e-Siah, Tarkho,
Irab, Gat, Agra, Khurchai, Dawagai, Kalan, Legharai, Kitkot, Gilllai, Nakhtar, Zarai, Dambarai, Amanata and Zaghaai. The district administration has directed the public to immediately contact the district administration or police control room in case of any emergency.

Following the attack in Tirah earlier, thousands, demanding restoration of peace, marched in the mountainous valley in Khyber tribal district on Monday. Several people died and many were injured in a firing incident.

The incident happened on Sunday when tribesmen were staging a protest against the killing of a girl in a mortar shell in front of the local military brigade. The protesters, including students of schools and madrassas, also demanded that the military ensure the safety of civilians during operations against militants.
