Ban on inmate meetings lifted at Adiala Jail

RAWALPINDI: After a span of nearly three weeks, Punjab government has lifted the ban on prisoner meetings at Adiala Jail.
The meetings of prisoners were banned from Oct 4 to Oct 25 due to security concerns. Besides the security threats the mock security exercises also caused the ban on meetings in Adiala jail,” told the sources.
The ban was applicable to all prisoners, including political prisoners, including Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan.

With the lifting of ban, the inmates would be allowed to meet with their family members and lawyers as usual, according to jail officials.
Initially, the provincial government had banned the meetings between October 4 and October 18.
On October 18, however, the ban was extended till October 25, dashing the hopes of over 8, 000 prisoners that they would be able to see their loved ones as usual.
