Bar councils across Pakistan applaud Justice Yahya’s nomination

ISLAMABAD: The official notification of Justice Yahya Afridi as the next chief justice was issued early on Wednesday. The nomination of Justice Yahya Afridi as the next Chief Justice of Pakistan has been met with widespread approval from various Bar Councils across the country.

Bar Councils from Sindh, Lahore, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bahawalpur, and Islamabad expressed their support for Justice Afridi’s nomination, offering their congratulations and pledging full cooperation during his tenure as Chief Justice.

Who is Yahya Afridi, the new Chief Justice?

Justice Yahyha Afridi was nominated by a parliamentary committee on October 22. He is set to take oath of office on October 26.

Afridi was born on January 23, 1965 in Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He belongs to the famed Afridi tribe from the Kohat region.
