WEB DESK: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a report detailing the weather conditions in the country as temperatures will be higher than usual, while rainfall is expected to remain below average. The report has also warned that below-average rainfall may negatively impact crop yields in most parts of the country, and severe heat could also lead to water shortages.
According to the NDMA, rising temperatures in southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan may trigger heatwaves and temperatures in southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan could reach up to 45°C. Cyclonic activity in the Arabian Sea is also possible during May and June, as predicted by the NDMA.
Government’s pesticide ban sparks industry concerns over crop production, investment
Karachi, Badin, Larkana, Umerkot, Tharparkar, Matiari, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Dadu, Sanghar will remain in the grip of extreme heat while Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Lahore would also encounter the sweltering temperatures. .
The report also warns of that the heat intensity in Balochistan’s mountainous regions could raise the risk of wildfires.
