Bid to smuggle bear cub from Mansehra foiled by local police

MANSEHRA: The business of smuggling of rare birds, animals and other insects is gaining momentum in Hazara. Recently, the police have foiled the smuggling of a rare bear cub during an operation.

According to police officials, the Balakot police under the supervision of DSP Balakot Sadaqat Nasar foiled an attempt to illegally smuggle a bear cub during an important and timely operation. During the operation, the accused was arrested and the officials of the Wildlife Department were immediately summoned.

Taking action on the spot, the Wildlife Department imposed a fine of Rs210,000 on the accused involved in the crime, Shakeel Khan son of Javed Khan, resident of Peshawar. The rare bear cub was handed over to the Wildlife Department so that it could be shifted to a safe environment.

DPO Mansehra Shafiullah Gandapur said on this occasion that no one will be allowed to break the law. The joint efforts of the police and the wildlife department not only saved an innocent life but also ensured the enforcement of the law.

It is worth noting that the smuggling of rare animals and valuable birds, including insects, has intensified this year.
