NEW YORK: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, leading a parliamentary delegation, met with United Nations Security Council President Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, the Permanent Representative of Guyana, on Monday to present Pakistan’s stance on key regional issues.
During the meeting, Bilawal accused India of violating international treaties by “weaponising water resources” and undermining regional stability. He stated that New Delhi had used a “single incident of terrorism as a pretext” to take unlawful actions, endangering peace in the region.
The PPP chairman reiterated Pakistan’s call for comprehensive dialogue with India to resolve the Kashmir dispute, stressing that a just solution was essential for sustainable peace in South Asia. He urged the UN to play its role in facilitating the resolution of Kashmir and other global conflicts in line with Security Council resolutions.

Rodrigues-Birkett reaffirmed the Security Council’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in accordance with its mandate, though no specific commitments regarding Kashmir were mentioned in the readout.
The meeting comes amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India over water-sharing disputes and the long-standing Kashmir issue, which remains a flashpoint between the nuclear-armed neighbours. Bilawal’s engagement at the UN reflects Islamabad’s continued efforts to internationalise the Kashmir dispute while countering India’s diplomatic narrative.
