Bilawal-led Pakistani delegation begins meetings in New York today

NEW YORK: A high-level Pakistani delegation, led by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, will begin a series of important diplomatic meetings in New York starting today. The delegation is visiting the US to highlight Pakistan’s stance on regional tensions, particularly concerning Pakistan-India relations, following the ceasefire between both countries on May 10.
Engagements with UN Security Council Members
The delegation will meet with ambassadors from the five permanent and nine non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The delegation includes prominent figures such as former Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman, former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar, diplomat Jilal Abbas Jilani, and Pakistan’s former Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Munir Akram.

Meetings with UN Leadership and Other Diplomats
In addition to Security Council engagements, the delegation is scheduled to hold talks with the UN Secretary-General, the President of the General Assembly, and other key envoys. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari will also address the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) and interact with Pakistani journalists based in New York.
OIC and Non-Aligned Representatives on Agenda
The delegation’s itinerary includes meetings with representatives from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and non-aligned countries. These discussions are expected to focus on regional stability and Pakistan’s diplomatic priorities.
Address to Overseas Pakistanis and US Experts
Tomorrow, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari will speak at a reception hosted by the Pakistani diaspora in New York. The event will also be attended by American foreign policy experts, providing an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and regional dynamics.
This visit underscores Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic efforts to engage with global stakeholders on critical issues affecting South Asia.
