Bilawal, Maulana Fazl conclude meeting on constitutional amendments

ISLAMABAD: The meeting between Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Maulana Fazl ur Rehman concluded in early hours of Saturday.
The meeting between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief focused on a revised draft of the proposed constitutional changes to the country’s judiciary.

Bilawal had arrived at Maulana Fazl residence a little past midnight, shortly after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) delegation left.
PPP member Naveed Qamar was also reportedly present during the discussions.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ishaq Dar along with Naveed Qamar arrived at Maulana Fazl’s house, while the PTI delegation was also visiting.
Meanwhile, Aamir Dogar of the PTI stated that even if the Maulana and Bilawal reached an agreement on the porposed judicial changes, the final decision will come from the Adilala Jail.
The PTI leader was alluding to the party’s founder and former prime minister, Imran Khan, incarcerated in the notorious Rawalpindi jail on several charges.
The special committee of parliament, chaired by Khurshid shah, recently approved a constitutional draft unanimously.
Shah confirmed to the media that the draft received ‘unanimous’ support, with the PTI members also present.

He stated that all members agreed on the draft bill “point by point”. While no one signed the draft, it was presented in the committee where all members raised their hands, signaling approval.
The approved draft will now be submitted to the federal cabinet for further evaluation.
