Bill Gates to visit Pakistan to support IT sector

ISLAMABAD:  American business magnate and philanthropist Bill Gates is set to visit Pakistan on September 23, according to sources.

During his visit, the government aims to secure his investment and support for Pakistan’s IT and science and technology sectors.

Officials have already requested information on key projects and investment opportunities from the Ministries of IT and Science and Technology.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar will provide Mr. Gates with a comprehensive briefing on Pakistan’s IT and science and technology landscape.

The presentation will highlight the potential of these sectors in Pakistan and outline the government’s efforts toward their development.

It’s worth noting that groundwork for this visit was laid during Bill Gates’ previous visit to Pakistan in 2022, when discussions on IT sector cooperation took place. Furthermore, during a recent meeting between former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Bill Gates in the United States, discussions regarding IT collaboration also transpired.
