British Council cancels Thursday’s afternoon exams in Lahore

British council cancels Thursday's exams

LAHORE: The British Council has cancelled all GCE, IGCSE, IELTS, and University of London exams scheduled for Thursday afternoon across all Lahore centres due to the worsening security situation in the city.

The move, taken in coordination with relevant examination boards, affects only Lahore-based candidates and does not apply to other cities.

“This decision prioritises the safety and security of all candidates,” the British Council said in its statement, urging students and parents to follow only official channels for updates.

Parents received the announcement early Thursday morning, advising them not to send children for scheduled exams.

Students have been told to stay in touch with their schools for guidance. Private candidates are advised to contact the British Council’s customer service for assistance.

The cancellation covers all major UK examination boards, including Cambridge, Edexcel, and OxfordAQA.

The council has provided no details regarding the rescheduling of the exam, but said  that any further announcements will be made through official communication channels.
