ISLAMABAD: Wife of the former chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Bushra Bibi, will not be able to participate in today’s protest rally of PTI due to ill health.

Special Assistant to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Mashal Yousafzai, has confirmed that Bushra Bibi will be unavailable for the protest today.

THE PROTEST CALL

PTI has issued a ‘final call’ for its members and activists to gather in Islamabad and stage a protest rally and sit-in until Imran Khan is released and 26th constitutional amendment is rescinded.

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, led by PTI, has announced to continue with the protest despite the federal government highlighting security threats.

Earlier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) also issued orders for the capital city authorities to ensure law and order at all costs.

THE CONTROVERSIAL CLAIMS

On Thursday (November 21), Bushra Bibi had taken to social media to urge PTI supporters to come out for today’s rally. She has made certain remarks about Saudi Arabia and former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa in her video message, which came under fire from supporters and critics of PTI alike.

She claimed that Imran Khan’s government was overthrown due to criticism from Saudi Arabia and due to the involvement of Qamar Bajwa. The former army chief had issued a strong rebuttal of the claims made by the former first lady, while two new cases have also been registered against her for misguiding the public.

Imran Khan, currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail, issued a clarification of Bushra Bibi’s message and said that her words were being purposely misconstrued. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government Spokesperson and PTI leader Barrister Saif also defended the statement by saying that Bushra Bibi was not blaming the Saudi government.
