Cabinet approves inclusion of 24 key individuals in ECL including journalists

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet has given the green light for the inclusion of 24 prominent figures in the Exit Control List (ECL) including journalists, as confirmed by sources familiar with the matter.

This decision was reached following the circulation of a summary from the Interior Ministry, indicating approval obtained through cabinet circulation.

Among those approved for inclusion in the ECL are journalists Sami Ibrahim and Imran Riaz, as per insider sources. Their names were added due to ongoing inquiries.

Additionally, the withdrawal of PTI leader Babar Awan from the ECL has been sanctioned by the Cabinet, according to sources. Awan’s inclusion in December 2023 was linked to the Al-Qadri Trust case.

Furthermore, the Cabinet has approved for the removal of names of 22 individuals from the ECL, based on recommendations from the Sub-Committee on ECL, as reported by sources.
