ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet has deferred making a final decision on banning the former ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
A meeting of federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was held in Islamabad in which matters related to special courts under the SECP Act, an MoU with Denmark, the appointment of the chairman of the Evacuee Trust Property Board, and an increase in the number of Privatization Commission members were discussed.
According to sources, the matter on imposing ban on PTI has been deferred due to the reservations expressed by government allies regarding the decision.

The meeting also failed to decide on invoking Article 6 against former president Arif Alvi, PTI founder Imran Khan, and former deputy speaker of the National Assembly Qasim Suri.
It has been decided that further deliberations would be made on the matter before taking the final decision.
