Capital police unveils stricter traffic measures

ISLAMABAD: In an effort to curb the alarming rates of traffic accidents and related fatalities, authorities in the capital have unveiled stricter measures against traffic law violations.
The World Health Organization (WHO) ranks Pakistan among the highest in the world for traffic-related deaths. To enhance road safety, authorities have announced the implementation of FIRs (First Information Reports) against drivers caught going against traffic flow on the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Expressway.
Sindh High Court tackles illegal parking
The initiative, led by the Islamabad Capital Territory Police, aims to foster compliance with critical traffic rules. Initial enforcement will concentrate on crucial sections of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Expressway, including bustling Serena Chowk and prominent Jinnah Avenue.
The intensified approach will soon extend to Constitution Avenue, where those driving against traffic will face legal consequences.
IG Islamabad Akbar Naseer explained the new policy’s aim to cultivate a sense of responsibility among drivers and create a safer driving environment. He called on citizens to uphold safety regulations to safeguard lives.
