LONDON: Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani addressed the 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministerial Meeting (CYMM), a collaborative effort between Pakistan and the Commonwealth Secretariat.

The CYMM, scheduled to occur from September 10 to September 15 in London, aimed to educate and empower youth, particularly by engaging them on climate change issues.

Minister Jilani, during his address, expressed pride in Pakistan’s role in chairing the summit, saying, “The recommendations of the summit have been compiled, and it is a matter of pride to have the summit chaired by Pakistan.”

He also emphasised the significance of the summit, highlighting that the welfare of youth was the shared responsibility of Commonwealth countries and underlining the importance of involving young people in addressing climate change challenges.

Meanwhile, regarding Pakistan’s participation in the G20 conference, he said, “Due to not being a member of G20, there was no need for Pakistan to participate in the conference.”

Minister Jilani discussed future diplomatic plans, stating that the interim Prime Minister would participate in the General Assembly meeting and visit the UK in the near future.

“The Caretaker Government will not work for even a minute beyond its allotted time,” he added.
