Caretaker religious affairs minister on role of madrassahs

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Religious Affairs Minister Aneeq Ahmed spoke about what he believes are the significant contributions of madrassahs in Pakistan.

He underlined their role in preserving and disseminating religious knowledge, and said that they hold a vital position in the country’s educational landscape.

While addressing an audience, the minister acknowledged that Pakistan is currently grappling with a myriad of challenges. These challenges encompass economic difficulties and cultural issues, in addition to external pressures, he said.

He emphasised that it is a collective responsibility for ulama (religious scholars) and students alike to guide the nation through these trying times and promote positive cultural values.

He urged everyone to unite in safeguarding the nation’s “ideological borders”, reinforcing the country’s commitment to its values.

In his address, the caretaker minister also condemned any efforts aimed at tarnishing Pakistan’s image. He reaffirmed the nation’s stance as a proponent of peace and rejected any association with terrorism. Ahmed concluded by asserting that Pakistan’s beauty and integrity would remain intact, and it would not succumb to external influences that aim to disrupt its peaceful existence.
