Case registered against TLP leader for threatening CJP

LAHORE: A case has been filed against Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Vice Emir Pir Zaheerul Hasan Shah for incitement to violence against Supreme Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged in Lahore’s Qila Gujjar Singh police station on behalf of Station House Officer (SHO) Hammad Hussain.
The case has been registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act besides other provisions of law, including spreading religious hatred, sedition, intimidating the higher judiciary, interfering and obstructing statutory duties.
According to the FIR, the suspect threatened and spread hatred against the judiciary during a protest outside the press club.
Federal govt condemns malicious propaganda against Chief Justice
The TLP vice chairman and 1,500 workers have been nominated in the FIR.
The case refers to a speech made by Shah during a protest rally outside the Lahore Press Club during a demonstration against the SC verdict in the Mubarak Sani case.
The FIR includes provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and those related to spreading religious hatred and anarchy, pressuring and threatening the higher judiciary, interference in state affairs, obstructing in performance of legal duties and others.
Earlier in the day, the federal government announced that it won’t allow malicious propaganda against the CJP and will take strict action against those responsible for it.
