ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has removed a newly installed monument featuring two golden hands holding orbs in Islamabad’s D-12 sector after it sparked a wave of criticism and ridicule on social media over its vague and suggestive design.
According to details, the sculpture had been erected at a roundabout on Iran Avenue, but its ambiguous appearance triggered widespread online reactions, with users questioning its relevance and symbolic intent.
Responding swiftly to the backlash, the Islamabad Capital Territory administration dismantled the monument.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) directed the private company responsible for the installation to remove it. One of the sculptures was taken down using heavy machinery, while another was covered with cloth.
A CDA spokesperson confirmed that the designs had not been officially approved, and therefore, instructions were issued for their immediate removal.
