Cellular networks to remain shut in KP on 9, 10 Muharram

PESHAWAR: Cellular networks will remain suspended on 9 and 10 Muharram in several sensitive districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to sources, the Provincial Home Department has directed relevant authorities to keep the mobile services partially shut in 14 districts – Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Abbotabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Hangu, Kurram, Orakzai, DI Khan and Tank.

The services would be be suspended in the areas identified by district administration and police in the these districts for the safety of mourners during processions.

Every year, the authorities suspend services in specific areas where Muharram processions are usually held, ensuring that other parts of the cities remain unaffected.
