CM Naqvi pushes for commencement of Gujranwala’s Chan Da Qila Flyover project

WEB DESK: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi led a comprehensive meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office on Friday to assess the status of key development projects across the province.

The meeting covered significant infrastructure initiatives, including the Lahore Ring Road, Southern Loop 3, Jhelum Laila Road, Gujranwala Motorway, and the Dadocha Dam.

Chief Minister Naqvi issued immediate directives for action on the Dadocha Dam Project and urged the swift commencement of work on the Chan Da Qila Flyover Project.

Emphasising the need for a thorough review of alternative traffic routes for the project, CM Naqvi underscored the importance of timely completion for public welfare projects. He praised the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) for their dedication to ongoing projects, particularly highlighting efforts to open Lahore Ring Road Southern Loop 3 for traffic in early February.

The meeting extensively covered the progress of various projects, with detailed briefings from FWO officials. Notable attendees included Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, DG FWO Major General Abdul Sami, Chairman Planning and Development Board, Secretary Communication and Works, Secretary Housing, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board, and other relevant officials.

In a separate engagement, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmed Al-Malki, paid a visit to CM Punjab Mohsin Naqvi at his office.

Ambassador Al-Malki commended CM Naqvi for his exemplary public services and praised the rapid pace at which public projects in Punjab, especially Lahore, were being completed under his leadership.

Expressing admiration for the hard work and dedication of CM Naqvi and his team, Ambassador Al-Malki highlighted the exceptional progress witnessed in Punjab over the past year.

He acknowledged that Pakistan has everything it needs for progress, and sincere individuals like Mohsin Naqvi, coupled with effective planning, are essential.

CM Naqvi, in turn, emphasised the enduring relationship between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, expressing gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support during challenging times. He stressed the crucial role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in Pakistan’s development and thanked the Saudi government for its unparalleled assistance.

Provincial Ministers SM Tanvir, Amir Mir, Chairman P&D, and others were present during the meeting. Probationer assistant commissioners from the 50th common training programme at the civil service academy also called on Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi at his office.

Addressing the delegation, CM Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the importance of prioritising public welfare in the preferences of every government officer.

He urged the probationers to adopt a courteous and compassionate attitude towards the public during interactions, emphasising the significance of avoiding misconduct.

Naqvi encouraged officers to maintain positive relationships with everyone and fulfil their duties without succumbing to any pressure, stating that achieving progress is inherent in delivering the best public services.

He advised the assistant commissioners not to be hesitant to gain experience through exchanges in remote areas and underscored the essential role of women in the services.

Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman also addressed the probationary ACs during the meeting. Provincial Minister Mansoor Qadir, additional chief secretary, Chairman P&D, SMBR, secretary services, commissioner Lahore, and other officials were present to discuss matters of mutual interest and progress in the region.
