Chehlum procession: Traffic plan issued for Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: On the directives of Islamabad IG Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, a special traffic plan has been issued for the 19th Safar Chehlum procession to be held today (Thursday).
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Capt (R) Zeeshan Haider has finalised the arrangements.
According to the traffic police spokesperson, the main Chehlum procession will start from Imambargah G-6/2, pass through its traditional route, and conclude at the same location. During the procession, Fazal Haq Road , from Polyclinic to Kulsoom Plaza, will remain closed for general traffic.
Motorists can use Jinnah Avenue from Kulsoom Plaza to China Chowk. Seventh Avenue from Daman-e-Koh Chowk to Chand Tara Chowk Blue Area Out Loop and from Seventh Avenue Chowk to Soharwardi will be closed in both directions. Suggested alternate routes include Jinnah Avenue, Soharwardi Road, and Margalla Road.

Saddar Road from Iqbal Hall to Melody Chowk, and Municipal Road from Lal Masjid to Shuhada Chowk and GPO Chowk, will also be closed on both sides. Aabpara Road, Soharwardi Road, and Shaheed Millat Road have been designated as alternate routes.
Luqman Hakeem Road, from Polyclinic to Iqbal Hall, will also remain closed, with Jinnah Avenue suggested as an alternative.
CTO Capt (R) Zeeshan Haider urged citizens to avoid illegal parking around the procession route and to park only in designated parking areas.
Traffic police personnel will be present to guide commuters. He advised the public to use alternate routes during the procession and cooperate with traffic police.
