Chief Justice Pakistan chairs National Judicial Policy-Making Committee meeting

ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the National Judicial Policy-Making Committee chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Banidal convened on Saturday.
According to sources, the meeting was attended by various legal officials including the Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court Justice Iqbal Hameed ur Rehman and the Chief Justices of all four Provincial High Courts. Furthermore, the meeting also witnessed the participation of the Provincial Inspectors General of Police and the Provincial Advocate Generals.
As per the sources, during the meeting, Justice Bandial directed the courts to take necessary steps for timely disposal of the cases. He categorically discouraged the initiation of fabricated and deceptive litigation.

Meanwhile, the top judge directed the courts to consider substitute mechanisms for adjudication as a way to reduce their backlog. He emphasised the incorporation of information technology in the judiciary.
During the session, Bandial firmly stressed the need for training and capacity-building of inspection officers and prosecutors.
“To expedite the disposal of pending cases, the charge-sheets should be submitted in courts immediately.” the top judge said.
