RAWALPINDI: “The Pakistani nation has never bowed down before and will not bow down now. Our desire for martyrdom is greater than life,” Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) Director General (DG) Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif said while speaking to China Global Television Network (CGTN). However, he said that Pakistan prioritises peace and stability, for the prosperity of its people.
Answering a question on Pakistan’s expectations from the global community if the Indo-Pak tensions turn into an armed conflict again, Pakistan armed forces spokesperson said that currently all countries around the world are grappling with significant challenges, such as climate change, the spread of misinformation, and rapidly growing populations. However, this does not justify one nation resorting to war against another based on fabricated narratives in an attempt to assert dominance.
“After Allah, it is ultimately ourselves that we rely on,” he said, adding, “the international community has played a crucial role, and will continue to do so,” he said.
Ahmed Sharif added that responsible nations prioritise the peace and prosperity of their people above all else. “Pakistan and China are responsible countries. The first priority of Pakistan and China is the welfare of the people. People’s prosperity always comes from peace and stability,” DG ISPR said, adding that both Pakistan and China are striving for peace and stability in the region.
“We are fighting a war against terrorism,” Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif said, “Terrorism’s sole purpose is to stop development.”
He said that China has achieved development with a large population in a short period of time. Pakistani people also want to move towards development and stability. “Our first priority is peace. Today, people in Pakistan are seen celebrating peace. Humanity is seen among the people of Pakistan,” Ahmed Sharif said, adding, “We humbly thank Allah.”
