In an official statement, a ministry spokesperson said, “Lowering tensions is crucial not just for Pakistan and India but for the entire region. We urge both sides to stay calm and act with restraint.”
China also said it is closely watching developments and is ready to play a constructive role in easing the situation.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed Beijing’s strong support for Pakistan during a phone call with his counterpart, calling Pakistan an “ironclad friend.”
The appeal comes as regional powers and international partners intensify diplomatic efforts to prevent a larger conflict.
