Civilian, military dignitaries attend North Waziristan martyrs’ funeral

RAWALPINDI: The funeral prayers of martyred army officers in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan were offered at Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi, announced the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Among the officers remembered were Lieutenant Colonel Syed Kashif Ali and Captain Muhammad Ahmed Badar, whose funeral prayers were conducted according to ISPR reports.

Civilian and military dignitaries attended the funeral, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Foreign Minister, and Interior Minister. Additionally, Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Army officials also joined in paying their respects to the departed souls, in a demonstration of the nation’s solidarity and respect for its defenders.

The funeral also drew a large gathering of relatives, local residents, senior military, and civil officers, all united in their homage to the martyrs.

Expressing his profound grief, President Asif Ali Zardari reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Pakistan Army to uphold the principles of faith, unity, and discipline, even in the face of grave challenges posed by terrorism.

“The soldiers of the Pakistan Army have displayed unwavering dedication and professionalism in safeguarding our nation against terrorism. Their willingness to make any sacrifice for the defence of our beloved country is an inspiration to us all,” remarked President Zardari, adding “the entire nation stands with its armed forces”.

The martyrs will be laid to rest in their native areas with full military honours, a tribute befitting their valour and dedication to duty, the ISPR statement said.
