OSLO: The Nobel Institute has rejected the claim of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s nomination for the Nobel Prize.
The institute termed it a political ploy, stating that the move aimed to influence Pakistani voters residing in Norway.
The director of the Nobel Institute, Christian Berg Harpviken, expressed serious reservations in an article published in a Norwegian newspaper.
He stated that publicizing the nomination before an official announcement was done for political purposes.

Harpviken further added that this was the first time a political leader’s Nobel nomination had been used in such a manner, affecting the credibility of the Nobel Prize.
It is worth mentioning that Norway’s Centre Party recently announced Imran Khan’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize, sparking mixed reactions from different circles.
The Nobel Institute emphasised that the nomination and selection process follows a strict and transparent set of regulations, and using it for political purposes is unacceptable.
