class 8 board exams to resume in Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to reinstate board exams for Class 8 students to raise academic standards, according to Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat.

Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed that board exams for Class 8 are being officially restored. He added that a transparent system will also be implemented for assessment tests from Grades 5 to 7.

The Punjab Examination Commission for Assessment (PECA) will conduct Grade 8 board exams, and a complete plan of action will be prepared within one month, according to the minister.

This decision was made during a meeting of PECA’s Board of Governors held in Lahore, chaired by the education minister himself.

Several proposals were discussed to improve academic standards and ensure transparency in the system.

The meeting also considered converting textbooks of Matric Tech Grades 9 and 11 into video format to provide students with easier access to learning.

The education minister instructed that a comprehensive and transparent system for internal assessment tests be developed within a month to accurately evaluate both teachers’ and students’ performance.

According to officials, the move aims to raise academic standards and ensure fair evaluation of student performance.
