CM directs for pacing up Rawalpindi Ring Road project

RAWALPINDI: Interim Chief Minister Punjab  Mohsin Naqvi has directed for pacing up Rs30 billion Rawalpindi Ring Road project.

The project is being led by the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).

On Saturday the caretaker Chief minister visited the FWO camp office and was briefed about the earthwork of Ring Road Project in Rawalpindi by Colonel Nadeem.

Naqvi stressed upon speeding up the project by deploying more workers to accelerate its progress.

He also asked NESPAK to provide him with the project design and has demanded the project report from Commissioner Rawalpindi.

The road project spans a total length of 38.3 kilometers, with the district administration having acquired land thus far for a 12-kilometer stretch from Chak Beli Khan to Adiala. Land acquisition for the remaining 26.3 kilometers is pending.

Moreover, the project will have 6 flyovers, 10 overhead bridges, and commercial areas on both sides (Rawalpindi and Islamabad). In addition, the road will be linked with five different interchanges at Baanth, Chak Beli Khan, Adiala Road, Chakri Road and Thalian. An industrial zone will also be established around the road.

The comprehensive project is budgeted at Rs31.7 billion, comprising Rs23 billion for construction and Rs6.7 billion for land acquisition.
