CM Gandapur visits flood-hit Buner, assures full compensation to victims

BUNER: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur visited the flood-ravaged district of Buner on Saturday. He expressed solidarity with victims and pledged full compensation for financial losses caused by the devastating floods.

Reviewing the destruction and ongoing relief efforts, the Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life and widespread damage to infrastructure. “The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stands with the people of Buner in this difficult time,” Gandapur said. “I assure the affected families that every financial loss will be compensated, and we are fully committed to rebuilding the damaged areas.”
Gandapur spoke on the urgency of restoring key infrastructure and ensuring swift aid delivery. “Rescue and relief operations are in full swing. In the next phase, a detailed survey will be conducted to assess the losses,” he added.
WIDESPREAD DESTRUCTION ACROSS BUNER
Torrential rains, flash floods, and powerful storms have caused widespread devastation in Buner district, leading to a high death toll and severe damage to property and agriculture. According to Rescue 1122 Buner, more than 260 people have lost their lives across various tehsils.
In Tehsil Gaddizi, Bishoni, Malikpur, Balokhan and surrounding areas, 181 bodies have been recovered, while over 850 people have been evacuated to safer locations. In Tehsil Dagar, 30 fatalities were reported, and over 200 people were rescued, including women and children.
Chagharzai Tehsil’s Gulbandi and Durga China areas witnessed the recovery of 41 bodies and 35 injured residents, who were transferred to RHC Hospital Gulbandi. In Salmani, Tehsil Mandnar, three bodies were recovered and shifted to District Headquarters Hospital.
MASSIVE INFRASTRUCTURE DAMAGE ACROSS KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA
A report was released by the Communication and Works Department on Sunday, showing the extent of the damage:
- 266 locations and 238 roads have been affected by floods across the province.
- 49 bridges and 47 drains were damaged, with 31 drains partially restored.
- 47 roads have been reopened, while another 47 remain closed due to severe damage.

District-wise impact on roads includes:
- 25 roads in Swat affected
- 28 in Lower Dir
- 13 in Mansehra
- 11 in Malakand
- 7 in Buner
RESCUE OPERATIONS IN FULL SWING
Rescue 1122 teams, supported by units from Swabi and Peshawar, are actively engaged in search and rescue operations. Emergency teams, led by KP Rescue 1122 Director General Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah, Director Operations Mir Alam, and other senior officials, remain on high alert and are overseeing relief work on the ground.
DG Abdullah urged the public to remain cautious, avoid flooded areas, and contact Rescue 1122 in case of any emergency. “Rescue 1122 is committed to protecting lives and property using all available resources,” he said.
