CM Punjab launches five new double decker buses in Lahore

LAHORE: Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz inaugurated five new hybrid double decker buses for promoting tourism on various routes in Lahore.

On the occasion, she was given a briefing by the authorities in which she was told that Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi will also receive one double-decker bus each.

Additionally, the service will be extended to Multan and Faisalabad to promote tourism in these cities.

During the event, CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz inspected the new double decker buses and took a ride on one of the double-deckers herself.

The double-decker bus service originally began in November 2015 under the tenure of former Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.  Initially, two open buses were routed for open guided tours of the historic and magical city of Lahore.

With the induction of five new buses, they will operate on routes from Gaddafi Stadium to various tourist spots across Lahore.

Each Double Decker Bus City Tour Route will cover almost all historical sites in the city and especially the famous Lahore Sightseeing Places like Walled city Lahore, and can carry 48 people on the upper level and 18 people on the lower level.

The Double Decker Bus Station has been set near the Punjab Stadium on Ferozepur Road whereas another station has been installed near the food street on Fort Road.
