COAS directs army top brass to deny space to terrorists

ISLAMABAD: Army Chief Gen Syed Asim Munir presided over the 264th Corps Commanders’ Conference, where participants paid tribute to the sacrifices made by armed forces officers, soldiers, law enforcement agencies, and civilians who laid down their lives for peace and security in the country.

General Asim Munir emphasized the success of ongoing anti-terrorism operations, citing the thwarting of multiple terrorist attacks and the apprehension of key terrorists. He stressed the importance of preventing terrorists from operating from any location within Pakistan.

Reaffirming the nation’s support for Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies, General Munir reiterated their commitment to permanently eliminating the terrorism threat, particularly in the context of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The conference condemned recent terrorist attacks targeting Chinese citizens in Besham and the brutal killings of civilians in Balochistan. It also addressed the regional threat posed by terrorist groups based in Afghanistan, which pose risks to both regional and global security.

Regarding the situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the forum expressed serious concern about India’s illegal aggression and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Kashmiris politically, diplomatically, and morally.

The conference also extended solidarity to the Palestinian people, condemning human rights violations, war crimes, and atrocities in Gaza. It highlighted the need for immediate de-escalation in the Middle East amid increasing tensions.

To counter negative propaganda aimed at demoralizing the armed forces, the forum emphasized that baseless allegations against security forces and law enforcement agencies are part of an orchestrated campaign. It pledged to uphold the rule of law and the constitution.

Lastly, the forum committed to supporting the government in achieving sustainable social and economic progress. It pledged to give full support to the government in its efforts to repatriate illegal foreigners and take action against smuggling, hoarding, and electricity theft.

General Asim Munir directed field commanders to maintain the highest standards of operational readiness, morale, and professional skills through rigorous training.
