LAHORE: A contempt of court case has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) Secretary Judicial Commission Niaz Muhammad Khan. He has been accused of omitting the word ‘Honorable’ with LHC Chief Justice’s name in a judges’ nomination notification.
LHC Justice Farooq Haider presided over the contempt of court case hearing today. During the proceedings, the LHC directed the Advocate General Punjab to provide judicial assistance. “The court should be provided assistance in light of the decision of the Supreme Court,” the LHC said.

The Registrar’s Office has also filed an objection petition, which was also heard by the LHC today. The petition said that the notification was issued correctly so the contempt petition is inadmissible.
The notification comes after the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) sent recommendations for LHC appointments last week, including nominations from the political personalities.
SONS OF SIX JUDGES RECOMMENDED FOR LHC
Last week, members of the JCP submitted recommendations for 25 vacant positions of judges in the LHC. Among the recommended names are six individuals who are sons of former judges of the court, DAWN news reported. Five women lawyers are also recommended for LHC judges. However, according to news reports, no name has been recommended from the minority communities.
Political personalities have also made recommendations for LHC appointments, as part of the JCP. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has proposed the name of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani’s son Saqib Jillani, and former justice Nasim Sikandar’s son Barrister Qadir Bukhsh.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has proposed the name of Haseeb Shakoor Paracha, son of former justice Abdul Shakoor Paracha.
