Corporate sector employees getting free electricity, NA told

ISLAMABAD: Employees in the corporate sector are being supplied with free electricity worth billions of rupees, the National Assembly (NA) was informed on Thursday.
According to documents presented before the NA during the question hour, nearly 200,000 employees of both public and corporate sectors are being provided with 441.5 million units of free electricity annually.
The in-service employees were provided with 308.2 million units of free electricity and retired employees were given 133.2 million units of free electricity.
A total of 149,000 employees of DISCOs received free electricity, 26,368 employees of NTDC, 12,000 employees of GENCO, 12,700 employees of WAPDA and 159 employees of PITC received free electricity, according to the documents.
ECP numbers reveal 4pc increase in voters since February 2024
A total of 78,000 active and 71,800 retired employees of DISCOs were also provided free electricity, the documents revealed.
