PESHAWAR: Corps Commander Peshawar Lt-Gen Sardar Hassan Azhar Hayat Khan on Monday visited the district headquarters hospital Khar to inquire after the health of the victims of the Bajaur blast.
He also met with the families of the martyrs in Bajaur and offered prayers for the departed souls.
He expressed his condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families and praised their courage and resilience.
The corps commander directed to provide all possible medical assistance to the injured to ensure their best treatment.
The Bajaur blast was a suicide attack that targeted a political gathering of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) in the Khar area of Bajaur district on Sunday.
The blast killed at least 54 people and injured more than 150 others, making it one of the deadliest attacks in Pakistan this year.
The terrorist organization Daesh or Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the police.
The blast has sparked widespread condemnation and outrage from political leaders, civil society, and human rights groups.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Arif Alvi, Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir and other prominent figures have issued statements denouncing the attack and vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
They have also announced compensation and relief packages for the families of the martyrs and the injured. The National Assembly observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims on Monday and passed a resolution condemning the attack.
The blast has also raised concerns about the security situation in Bajaur and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which have been plagued by militancy and violence for years.
The government has claimed that it has largely cleared the region of terrorists and restored peace and stability, but sporadic attacks still occur.
The authorities have launched a search operation to arrest the culprits and prevent further attacks. They have also urged the public to cooperate with the security forces and report any suspicious activities or persons.
