Court declares Toshakhana case admissible

ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad Saturday declared the Toshakhana case against Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan admissible.
Toshakhana case was heard against Chairman PTI in District and Sessions Court Islamabad.
Imran Khan’s lawyer Khawaja Haris did not appear in the court again despite being summoned by the court to give arguments.
According to the order of the Islamabad High Court, the court had to decide within 7 days whether the Toshakhana case against Chairman PTI is admissible or not.
Imran Khan filed two petitions in the court today, one seeking exemption from attendance citing security concerns, while Imran Khan’s lawyer Gohar Ali Khan sought adjournment of the hearing till July 10.
Election Commission lawyer Saad Hasan objected to the exemption request.
Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar in his remarks expressed his indignation and said that PTI lawyer Khawaja Haris did not appear even once in the last three days.
“In the Toshakhana case, the court is being very lenient towards you, there is no example of such lenient behavior anywhere else, it has been taken advantage of”, the judge remarked.
The judge ordered Khawja Haris to come and give arguments at 11:30 or else he will take a decision after listening to the prosecution lawyer.
After the break, Election Commission’s lawyer Amjad Parvez and chairman PTI’s lawyer Gohar Ali Khan appeared in the court.
Defense lawyer said that they require more time and the court should give them more relief.
Judge Humayun Dilawar said that the Islamabad High Court has given you such a big relief, to which Imran Khan’s lawyer said that the High Court has not given any relief to Chairman PTI.
The judge said that Khawaja Haris is a senior lawyer, such behavior cannot be expected from him, “every Pakistani is watching the Toshakhana case, since the Toshakhana case came to my court, other cases have stopped, except today. You will not be given a date”, the judge remarked.
Election Commission’s lawyer said that Chairman PTI has filed immunity applications several times,
The court declared the Toshakhana case against Imran Khan admissible and rejected the request to adjourn the hearing.
The court has fixed July 12 for the hearing of the Toshakhana case, the trial of the Toshakhana case will begin at the next hearing.
The court has summoned the witnesses for their testimony on July 12.
